Quick Trade Depth of Market       (Back to Index)

If you are using PFG MDS streaming quotes for GLOBEX, E-CBOT, NQLX, or OneChicago markets, the QT window shows you depth of market (1). The depth of market feature shows the current bid and ask and the quantity of the bid and ask at that price. It also shows the four prices in the book above and below the current bid and ask along with the quantities at those prices.

The depth of market feature also gives you another way of placing Stop and Limit orders. To place a Stop or Limit order through the depth of market window, place your cursor over the bid or ask window that shows the price you want and left click. This will populate the price window with the price you selected. Then right click and a menu will appear giving you the option to place a Stop or Limit order.

For example, in the screen shown above, left clicking on 1198.00 in the Ask window populated the price window (2) with that price. Then right clicking in the Ask window gives you the option of entering a limit order to Sell at 1198.00, or entering a BUY Stop at that price. If you want to change your price before placing an order, left click on the price you want in the Ask window or use the side arrows next to the price window. If you do not wish to scroll through prices, you can delete the price that is in the price section and manually type in the price that you want, or use the depth of market Bid and Ask windows to select prices.

The same functionality applies for the Bid window. In the screen shown below, left clicking on 976.50 in the Bid window populated the price window with that price. Then right clicking in the Bid window gives you the option of placing a limit order to BUY at that price, or entering a SELL stop at that price.

At the bottom of the QT window you will see a bar that displays the Open, High, Low, Last, Change, BID, and ASK.
